The Fondation Haute Horlogerie delivers the only internationally recognised certification on theoretical watchmaking knowledge: the FHH Certification, spread over 3 levels.

The first level: FHH Watch Advisor
The FHH Watch Advisor level is considered as the entry level, no previous knowledge is necessary.

As the test is digital, it can be taken from any place. You can pick a preferred timing from the open sessions available during any business day.

FHH Watch Advisors have acquired a good overall comprehension of watchmaking.


They know how a simple mechanic watch works and are familiar with the terminology. They are able to engage in meaningful discussions about watchmaking.

Technical Knowledge

The questions concern the mechanism of a watch, the functioning of a movement, the function of the different components and the main horological complications.

Do I have to go to a test center to take any of the tests?

No, the format is digital. The test can be taken from any place. An excellent internet connexion is required.

Does the FHH Certification alone includes a training?

No, no training is included. It is a self-studying format.
Tools are given to the participants upon registration (access to the practice test, reading list, apps)

How long after the test are the results available?

The results of the test are published 5 days after it took place.
You will receive a PDF version by email between 15 and 20 days after, it is indicated in this email that a paper version can also be sent upon request.
